This set of Matryoshka dolls is completely handmade and unique. Each single doll is made of natural wood (linden tree). They are all mostly painted with tempera and richly decorated with golden leaf. The dolls are usually covered with 4-6 layers of lacquer.
Presented Matryoshka has theme paintings based on one of the most popular Russian Folk fairytales – “The Frog Princess”.
Once upon a time there lived a tsar with three sons. As it was time for them to get married, the tsar told them to make a bow and to shoot an arrow, and the woman who brings your arrow back will become your bride. The two elder brothers got nice brides, but the youngest prince found his arrow in a frog’s teeth. The young prince was ashamed of his froggy bride, until she was magically turned into a beautiful princess…
