This set of Matryoshka dolls is completely handmade and unique. Each single doll is made of natural wood (linden tree). They are all mostly painted with tempera and richly decorated with golden leaf. The dolls are usually covered with 4-6 layers of lacquer.
This marvelous and complex author's work is executed using a tremendous amount of gold tinsel simulator.
This Matryoshka is drawn upon Russian Folk fairytale “Sister Alyonushka and brother Ivanushka”.
Alyonushka and Ivanushka lived alone, without anybody in the whole world. So Alyonushka took care of her younger brother. They walked through the fields and Ivanushka grew thirsty. He wanted to drink from a cattle trough, but Alyonushka said he’d turn into a calf. They walked on and he wanted to drink from a goat trough, but again the sister desperately tried to prevent her brother from drinking. But it was too late, because Ivanushka had already drunk this water…
