Splendid article, made from amber - hardened tar of relict trees, about 70-40 millions years old. There are more than 200 shades of amber in nature.
White, milk amber is the rarest and the most ancient. During the manufacture of wares made from milk amber, craftsmen do not expose the material to the thermal process, i.e., the amber remains in the same condition as it was found. For these reasons milk amber stones are most expensive. All shades from white to yellow (stones of the color of ivory, cloudy, streaky, with tracks of “frosty pattern” and/or diffused spots, with barely recognizable wave crests) resemble running ground-wind or even a seaweed outline. All of them are known as milk amber.
