This set of Matryoshka dolls is completely handmade and unique. Each single doll is made of natural wood (linden tree). They are all mostly painted with tempera and richly decorated with golden leaf. The dolls are usually covered with 4-6 layers of lacquer.
When we speak of Russia one of the first associations which comes to mind is the Russian winter. This is not only a natural phenomenon typical for Russia and the best season of the year, but also one of the main subjects of folklore, fairy tales, legends and Russian life. Russian Troika (Trinity) is straightly connected with Russian winters and the three horses symbolize the three winter months and also the lucky number three.
