This set of Matryoshka dolls is completely handmade and unique. Each single doll is made of natural wood (linden tree). They are all mostly painted with tempera and richly decorated with golden leaf. The dolls are usually covered with 4-6 layers of lacquer.
This set consists of 15 pieces. This matrioshka is made in traditional palech-painting style: very bright, colorful and contrasting. This is not only a piece of art, but also a wonderful illustration of the Russian fairy tall (“Golden shoe”).
Once upon a time there lived old woman who had two daughters. She loved her older one, but didn’t like the younger. This was unfair, because the younger one was doing all housework, cleaning and cooking. One day the woman and her older daughter went to church and left the younger daughter Elena at home.
