This set of Matryoshka dolls is completely handmade and unique. Each single doll is made of natural wood (linden tree). They are all mostly painted with tempera and richly decorated with golden leaf. The dolls are usually covered with 4-6 layers of lacquer.
This set consists of 30 pieces. It’s made in palech-painting style, with different illustrations from the Russian folk tales and stories. According to the traditions of palech they are depicted on black background and richly decorated with red and gold details. One special Russian fairy tale, which can be followed here step by step, is “The tale of Firebird”. The firebird is known as a symbol of happiness, luck, and success.
