Lacquer miniatures rank as one of the most original and diverse handicrafts that developed in keeping with century old traditions. It takes around 6 months for the artist to make this lacquer casket. This box is made of paper-mâché which could be shaped into widely diverse forms. It is painted with tempera (pigment) painting and golden powder. This box is lacquered about 8-10 times.

This is an absolutely unique set, which represents St. Petersburg as a city of contrasts. A big variety of architectural monuments is depicted here: different cathedrals, churches, palaces, bridges, and, of course, the heart of the city – Peter and Paul Fortress and its cathedral – a place where the city was born. We can see the historical center with a portrait of the founder of St.Petersburg – Peter the Great.
