This set of Matryoshka dolls is completely handmade and unique. Each single doll is made of natural wood (linden tree). They are all mostly painted with tempera and richly decorated with golden leaf. The dolls are usually covered with 4-6 layers of lacquer.
Based on the story of a fairy tale of the world famous Dutch writer H.C. Andersen “The Snow Queen”, this fairy tale is about love, devotion and courage. What to do, when the Snow Queen kidnaps your own brother? Search and rescue him! So Gerda decided and left home to take on that difficult and dangerous journey to the North.
