Lacquer miniatures rank as one of the most original and diverse handicrafts that developed in keeping with century old traditions. It takes around 6 months for the artist to make this lacquer casket. This box is made of paper-mâché which could be shaped into widely diverse forms. It is painted with tempera (pigment) painting and golden powder. This box is lacquered about 8-10 times.
One of the most widely known and beloved heroines of Russian folk tales is “Snegurochka” ("Snow Maiden"). However, besides the Russian folk tale, there is also a Russian fairy tale of the same name by a writer A.Ostrovskiy. In the fairy tale of this author, Snow Maiden is a child of nature: her father is Frost, and her mother is Spring. She knows well how to associate and communicate with nature.
